I had a wonderful time at the hostel, which is perfect for socializing and meeting new people. The shared rooms were a bit cramped but functional, and the amenities kept things lively. I really appreciated the central location near key attractions, making it easy to explore. On the downside, it can get a bit noisy at night, so it might not be ideal for those looking for peace and quiet.

I had a great stay at this hostel! The rooms were clean and I slept really well on the comfy mattresses. The location is perfect for exploring with easy access to key attractions. However, the noise from the street at night can be a bit disruptive if you keep the window open, and the overall infrastructure felt a little dated at times.

The location is ideal, within walking distance of major attractions like Pier 39. Even though the neighborhood had some adult venues, I never felt unsafe walking around.
Dining

I had a decent experience at this hostel. The service was warm and inviting, and I appreciated the cleanliness of the bathrooms. However, the steep stairs made it challenging to carry my luggage, and the room was quite cramped for three people. It’s a good option for short stays, especially if you're traveling light and want to save some money.

Rooms

The room felt very small, making it hard to move around, especially with our suitcases.
Service

The person at reception was very nice and welcoming, yet it felt a bit overwhelming with the immediate focus on kitchen duties.
Location

While the area was busy and lively, it could get noisy on weekends. It was still safe and close to major tourist spots.
Dining

The free food was fantastic, definitely a highlight even if the atmosphere felt forced at times.
Facilities

The toilets were nice and well-equipped with shampoo, which I appreciated.

5.2/10

My experience at Green Tortoise Hostel was quite the rollercoaster. While the location was fantastic, right in the heart of the city and close to many attractions, my initial encounter was very disappointing due to an issue with my bed. However, the daily activities and meals offered were notable highlights. I ended up moving to a better place, which made the stay not ideal, but there were some redeeming moments in the hostel's offerings.

Rooms
5.0
I had a rough start when I found someone already in my dorm bed, which was unacceptable. After that, it left a bad taste about the cleanliness and organization of the place.
Service
5.0
The response from the receptionist was rude when I raised my concern about the bed. Overall, the service fell short of my expectations.
Location
9.0
The hostel's location is one of its biggest advantages, since it's near many tourist attractions and public transport options.
Dining
7.0
I appreciated the free meals they offered on certain days, which added some value to the stay. However, it seemed more like a bandage on the underlying issues.
Facilities
5.0
Although it has some good activities and free food events, the overall atmosphere was hampered by the initial issues I faced, leading to a general sense of discomfort.
